Peer Doula Program

Center for Health and Recovery (CHR), formerly known as CHEEERS has partnered with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to provide Peer Doula Training. This program is designed to provide individuals with lived experience, who are not currently credentialed to provide Peer Recovery Support services, with an opportunity gain not only Peer Recovery Support Certification but also become a Certified Birth Doula to work with pregnant women who have mental health and or substance use disorders. Funding provided through ADHS pays for the training and travel for individuals living in Northern or Southern Arizona. Space is limited, contact us soon!

Are you a person with lived experience interested in becoming a Credentialed Peer Recovery Support Specialist and a Certified Birth Doula?

Is offering a unique opportunity to individuals in Arizona with lived experience to become Credentialed as Peer Recovery Support Specialists and Certified Birth Doulas

to work with pregnant women.

 This project is funded through Arizona Department of Health and is at no cost to those that receive the training. The goal is to expand availability of culturally competent maternal mental health peer support services and community-based support for families during and after pregnancy!

60- hour Peer Recovery Support Credentialing Course

Must attend both virtual

 and in person training

2 consecutive weeks

Hotel/mileage and Per Diem will be compensated for Northern AZ and Southern AZ attendees for the in-person portion of Peer Support Training.

Virtual Classroom

August 22nd – August 26, 2022

9:30 am – 3:30 pm

Must attend all 5 days of training

In Person Training

August 29th -September 2nd, 2022

@ CHR in Phoenix

9:30 am – 3:30 pm

Must attend all 5 days in person

All Participants must receive 80% or higher on written exam on final day to gain credentials. Must commit to Birth Doula Training and Credentialing program after completion of Peer Recovery Support Training.

Once Peer Credentials are obtained individuals will be enrolled in Doula Training to receive certification.
